Reflection on revision and drafting:

During my revision process I spent the most time adjusting one of my paragraphs into two paragraphs and adding more details. I think it would have been helpful for me to cite one of my concerns as the length of my essay, because I realized it might be a little long and it would have been helpful to have my peers be on the lookout for unnecessary sentences while they were reading my essay. The process of drafting and revision for this essay was different than the entry essay we wrote. For one, the peer feedback was more structured, resulting in more substantial feedback expanding on more than just grammar. I also had a better idea of what to write for this essay, and a lot more to say for it, so my essay was more detailed and focused in the first draft than the first essay had been. However, the peer feedback structure for this project was very similar to what I have done in high school. We always had a big emphasis on giving good feedback when writing papers, so it is a process I am familiar with.

The degree of freedom given by the structure of the project also allowed me to make the essay my own. The smaller assignments leading up to this project helped me be more creative with writing this paper. I also think the twenty-minute conference helped me feel confident that my essay was going in the right direction. I think my approach to this project fit pretty well with the expectations of the class. I felt well prepared coming into class with the amount of time I spent developing my draft and on giving peer feedback. I felt pretty confident turning in the final draft of my essay after revising it based on the feedback I received.
